In-home dog sitting in Rockingham, NC

A sitter comes to your home while you travel, so your dog keeps its own bed, yard and schedule.

What in-home dog sitting includes

  • Two to four visits a day, or an overnight stay, depending on your dog
  • Walks or yard time, feeding and fresh water
  • Medicines at set times
  • Photo or text updates
  • A lived-in look for your home: mail in, lights changed, blinds adjusted

Why owners choose it over a kennel

Your dog doesn't travel, doesn't mix with unfamiliar dogs, and keeps its routine. It's often the better fit for older dogs, nervous dogs and homes with more than one pet.

How many visits does my dog need?

Most adult dogs do well with three visits a day: morning, midday and evening. Puppies and seniors may need four, or an overnight stay. Tell us your dog's routine and the sitter will suggest a plan.

How long will my pet be left alone during the day?

It depends on the schedule you book. With three visits a day, most adult dogs are alone for no more than about five or six hours at a stretch in the daytime. Puppies, seniors and anxious pets often do better with more visits or overnight care. Tell us your pet's routine in your request.

What happens in a veterinary emergency?

A prepared sitter has your vet's details, your written permission to approve treatment up to an amount you set, and a plan for after-hours care. They keep your pet safe, call you, and get your pet to your vet or the nearest emergency hospital. Ask your sitter to walk you through their plan.

How far ahead should I book?

For holidays and summer weekends, as early as you know your dates. For other times, a week ahead usually works.

Will the same sitter come every time?

Ask the sitter. Many work alone, so the same person comes each visit.

What if my dog doesn't like strangers?

Say so in your request. A meet-and-greet before the booking lets your dog get to know the sitter.

Tell us your dates

It takes about a minute. A local sitter gets back to you to talk through your dog's routine.
